Kanpur: Hon’ble Justice Pritinkar Diwakar, who is also in-charge- chairman of State Legal Service Authority, on Saturday made a random inspection of district jail Kanpur Nagar and directed the jail superintendent to ensure that food and medicines are regularly provided to sick prisoners.
Earlier, Justice Diwakar visited the jail hospital and had a chat with the prisoners admitted there. He also inspected the women’s barracks and interacted with the women prisoners. During the inspection, Justice Diwakar observed that some prisoners despite being granted bail by the courts are still languishing in jail because they are unable to arrange sureties. He asked the jail superintendent to contact and write to the courts concerned in this connection. Justice Diwakar tasted the food to examine its quality while visiting the kitchen. He asked the jail authorities to take special care regarding the quality of food and install exhaust fans in the kitchen.
During the inspection he was accompanied by Justice Samiti Gopal, Justice Mayank Kumar Jain, secretary-member, State Legal Service Authority Sanjay Singh police commissioner BP Jogdand, DM Vishak G Iyer etc. tnn
