Kanpur: CRS Jind humbled Punjab Univ Chandigarh by 64 runs in North Zone Inter- University cricket tournament being played here at different grounds.
Jind University, after being invited to bat first, posted a total of 6 for 193 runs at the HBTU ground. Sahil Goswami was the main scorer who scored 84 runs in 63 balls with the help of 6 boundaries and 4 sixes. Ashish Goyal contributed 49 runs. For Chandigarh Univ, Sahil picked 2 wickets for 30 runs. Punjab University in reply, despite a fine start given by Satyam Sharma (36) and Harman Singh (29) could not chase the target. Their innings folded on 129 runs. In fact, their middle order badly failed to score. Rahul, Parvesh and Sumit bagged two wickets each.
In another match played at the university ground, Punjabi University Patiala outplayed Jamia Milia Delhi by 6 wickets. Jamia Milla, deciding to bat first, collected 121 runs. In reply, Punjabi University hit the required 122 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 17.1 overs. LPU Phagwara outplayed GKK Haridwar by 69 runs at the university ground.
