Kanpur: Special judge Pocso Act court Vikas Gupta on Friday awarded ten years rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 50,000 to accused Ramesh Chandra for kidnapping and raping his cousin sister (maternal side).
The court ordered that if the accused Ramesh failed to pay the fine, then he had to undergo another three months term in jail.
According to ADGC Vivek Shukla, accused Ramesh Chandra enticed his cousin, who is a daughter of his mother’s real sister, and raped her. As per the statement of the victim, the accused, her cousin, had kidnapped and physically exploited her and thus had committed a heinous offence.
The victim’s father had lodged the report on December 4, 2000 at Kalyanpur police station alleging that his 15-year-old daughter had disappeared while she was going to school. She was enticed and kidnapped by his brother-in-law’s son Ramesh Chandra, a resident of Kotwali Fatehpur, the ADGC said.
One of his relatives had informed the girl’s father that he had seen the girl, Ramesh and his parents in his village.
The victim in her statement deduced that Ramesh had proposed to her to watch a movie and that he would inform her parents. Instead of going to the cinema hall, he took her to Fatehpur by bus and from Fatehpur to Varanasi by train. He had threatened to kill her parents if the she resisted and repeatedly raped her, the ADGC said .
