KANPUR: A case of 27 people travelling in an auto had come to the fore in Fatehpur. In a similar incident, seven people, including a man and six children, were found riding a motorcycle in Auraiya district on Tuesday.
When the policeman told the man that this was a violation of traffic rules , the latter, who was driving the two-wheeler, said that he was going to get ice cream for the children.
“When we stopped the biker and told him that he was violating traffic rules, he gave strange reasons. He told the police that on the occasion of Eid-ul-Zuha, he had come from Kanpur Dehat to his relative’s house in Auraiya. The kids of his house and children of the neighbourhood insisted that he get ice cream for them, so he brought them to the market. He gave a plea that he was helpless because there is no other two-wheeler in his house,” said traffic inspector KK Mishra
The man on the wheels was not even wearing a helmet.
The policemen then issued a challan of Rs 1000 and let the man go with a warning not to repeat such an offence again.
