Kanpur: Police have detained two Aam Aadmi Party workers who were on their way to submit a memorandum to the district magistrate against the Agnipath scheme.
The police have detained former general secretary of AAP’s youth wing Dharmedra Kumar and former district president Nagendra Rana. “Their detention is a precautionary step in view of the ongoing protest against Agnipath scheme,” said station house officer Ravi Shankar.
To recall, an attempt has been made to spoil the peaceful atmosphere of the city on Friday. The Crime branch had initiated an investigation and in the process picked up half a dozen youths for questioning.
Similarly, in protest against the Agnipath scheme, a group of youths had stopped the goods train in Kanpur Dehat at Lalpur railway station on Friday.
