Team From Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Conducts Inspection In Two Villages | Kanpur News

KANPUR: An international team of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) visited Sachenid and Kalyanpur villages in Kalyanpur block on Thursday to take stock of the efforts being made to eradicate Filariasis and learnt about the challenges faced by the patient support group.
The team sought information from Asha workers about the use and administration of medicines and discussed the challenges of filaria patients.
The first held a meeting with Arun Kumar Singh, district malaria officer, and sought information about the facilities given to filaria patients and operation facilities for hydrocele patients. Members also witnessed the family register under Mass Drug Administration.
Dr VP Singh, state communicable disease officer and representatives of World Health Organization (WHO) and Center for Advocacy and research (CFAR) Path and PCI organizations were also present on this occasion. Thereafter, the team visited village Binor under Kalyanpur block and met with members of Mata Sagar Devi group .
The team members talked to the patients of the group to know how aware they were about this disease. Group members also shared their experiences. Patients appriseed them that it was their endeavor that people should become aware of this disease so that they did not have to face the problems which they were facing. They also urged to provide facilities of operation to the hydrocele patients. VP Singh suggested providing other necessary facilities to the patients.
Team thereafter went to Sachendi village and conducted a meeting with members of filaria cluster forum consisting 9 women and 6 males. Members apprised the team that efforts were being made by various organizations to check the expansion of filaria. Raghuveer, a member, apprised the team how he used flip books and created awareness among the villagers.
