srtc: Two Srtc Buses Collide, Catch Fire; 36 Passengers Injured | Kanpur News


Kanpur: About 36 passengers were injured, five of them critically, after two UPSRTC buses collided and caught fire near Kalauliteer village on Hamirpur-Rath road in Hamirpur district on Thursday.
The passengers of both the buses broke open the window panes and jumped out to save their lives. The injured passengers were rushed to the district hospital. The five critically injured were referred to Kanpur. The police and fire brigade teams rushed to the spot and doused the fire. The incident is said to be caused by a stray animal.
Qamar Ahmed, the driver of the bus of Rath depot, was going to Rath with the driver Dharmendra Gupta from Hamirpur with the passengers.
As soon as the bus reached Kalauliteer village of Sadar Kotwali, a stray animal came in front of the Hamirpur depot bus coming from the opposite direction. In a bid to save it, the driver lost control and collided with the bus of Rath depot and both the buses caught fire.
Outpost in-charge Gaurav Chaubey and police personnel rushed to the spot and sent the injured to the district hospital by ambulances.
ARM Aqeel Ahmed rushed to the spot. The official later arranged for buses for the passengers to their destination.
