srivastava: Cbi Team Returns To Lucknow After Quizzing Epfo Officer | Kanpur News


Kanpur: After several hours of questioning of enforcement inspector Amit Srivastava, who was caught taking bribe at the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) office, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team returned to Lucknow on Tuesday.
After being produced in the CBI court, Srivastava was sent to jail on Tuesday itself. The consultant, who was initially suspected to be involved with Srivastava, and further detained for questioning, was given a clean chit and released.
During investigation, it came to fore that Srivastava owns assets worth crores.
The Lucknow unit team of CBI had raided the Kanpur regional office of EPFO on Monday. During this, enforcement inspector Amit Srivastava posted at the EPFO was caught red-handed taking Rs 3 lakh in cash from a school operator, Jaipal Singh.
According to sources, CBI has found documents of properties worth crores from the house of Srivastava. Information has also been received about the purchase of several properties by him. Apart from this, CBI has also taken files related to many other similar cases with it.
Srivastava took a bag full of money from the school operator in the Public Grievance Center of the office itself.
The entire incident was captured in the CCTV cameras of the office. The CBI has also procured the CCTV footage, which will be produced as a major evidence against the enforcement inspector in the court.
