Sit Probes Call To Pak From Accused’s Mobile | Kanpur News

KANPUR: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the government to probe the June 3 clashes in Kanpur has found that a call was made to Pakistan by a history-sheeter, who is also wanted in connection with the violence and is absconding since then.
The SIT found that the call was made from a number belonging to one Atiq Khichdi, a listed history sheeter and a member of D-2 gang (local gang number).
Atiq has been absconding since the day of violence.
SIT is yet to establish if the call was a ‘one-off’ thing or had something to do with the violence in Kanpur.
“During investigation, the SIT traced a call to Pakistan made from a mobile phone number being used in the city,” said an investigator, part of the SIT, preferring anonymity.
On further probe, the investigators found that the number belonged to a notorious history-sheeter Atiq Khichdi who is absconding since the violence had erupted in Parade and adjoining areas. “The number has been switched off since then,” the official added.
Ateeq Khichdi, 40, a resident of Gammu Khan Ka Hata, is a listed history-sheeter of Colonelganj police station where 21 cases of robbery, assault, attempt to murder, drug smuggling, Goonda Act and Gangsters Act are registered against him.
Ateeq’s brother Aqeel is also a history-sheeter.
Meanwhile, a screenshot of a chat in which an individual is instigating another person for inciting violence has also gone viral on social media. Sources said the screenshot is said to be of Khichdi’s phone.
The chat in the screenshot reads: “Al Barkat Market Pechbagh Aa Jana. Bring bombs by taking all the boys and keeping them in the bag. Arrive by two o’clock in any case. Collect under Gudde Bhai’s flat and call on the number of his boy Anshu. They will come down. Then run straight to Chandeshwar gate. Now no one will back down, listen with open ears. Shaikh Sahab’s order is there. Show Gudde Bhai’s photo to all the boys so that they can recognize him. If the goods are short, go straight to Gudde Bhai.”
Violence had erupted on June 3 in Parade and its adjoining areas Yatimkhana, Nai Sadak, under Beconganj police station over a statement of BJP leader Nupur Sharma.
Police had arrested the violence mastermind Hayat Zafar Hashmi and his aides Javed Ahmed Khan, Mohd Sufiyan, Mohd Rahil, and sent them to jail. A total of 58 miscreants have been arrested in Kanpur for the June 3 violence so far.
