Sit Nabs Five More Accused Of 1984 Riots | Kanpur News

Kanpur: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has arrested five more accused involved in the Nirala Nagar triple murder case which took place during the anti-Sikh riots of 1984, on late Wednesday night.
With recent developments, the SIT has so far arrested 11 of 21 accused in the Nirala Nagar triple murder case.

A total of 127 Sikhs including Rakshpal Singh, Bhupinder Singh and Satveer Singh alias Kale of Niralanagar were killed in the anti-Sikh riots of Kanpur. The SIT arrested Amar Singh (61) alias Bhura and one Mobeen (60) from Mohalla Takia Jawahar Nagar in Ghatampur area in connection with the killings on late Monday night.
Earlier, on June 15, four accused in the Nirala Nagar massacre Yogendra Singh, Vijay Narayan Singh, Shafiullah and Abdul Rehman, were arrested by the SIT. The biggest catch -Raghavendra Kushwaha, nephew of Shivnath Singh Kushwaha, who was a minister of state in the Congress government, is yet to be arrested.
On Wednesday night, the SIT raided three different places in Kidwainagar and arrested five more persons.
The accused have been identified as Jaswant (68), resident of Kanjadpurwa Kidwai Nagar, Ramesh Chandra Dixit (62), Ravi Shankar Mishra (76), of Juhi Lal Colony, Bhola (70), a resident of Nirala Nagar and U block resident Ganga Baksh Singh (60). They were produced before the court on Thursday and sent to jail.
“Five more accused involved in Nirala Nagar murder case have been arrested. Meanwhile, a review meeting has been called by SIT chief former DGP Atul Kumar. Future course of action would be decided in this meeting,” said DIG SIT Balendu Bhushan.
