Kanpur: Senior officials, including divisional commissioner Raj Shekharvisited the new terminal building at Chakeri airport on Wednesday to review the mega project.
After interacting with officials, the team observed that the progress of the project (main building) is around 75% as on date. It was 65% last month and the work was done expeditiously. The commissioner told officials that the earlier deadline fixed to complete the main building was August 15.
General manager Rajkiya Nirman Nigam in the presence of general manager Airport Authority of India assured the commissioner that the work of main building would be completed by August 15.
GM AAI (Civil) Shiv Raju said the taxi stand link work to the runway and electrical cable work would take 135 days more as a MoU is to be signed between the Air Force and AAI. All payments to defence estate officers (DEO) had been made by the state government about one month back, he said.
Chief engineer PWD updated the commissioner about the connecting road from Prayagraj National Highway to the New airport building which would be completed by Aug 31 this year. “There was some problem of the availability of soil and sand. As the issue has been resolved, the road construction work will be completed by August end,” said chief engineer.
