Search Operations For 18 Accused Of City Violence Intensified | Kanpur News

Kanpur: The police have intensified search operations to nab 18 more persons accused of June 3 Parade, Nai Sadak violence.
In the process, the police have obtained NBW (non bailable warrant) against them from the court. All these accused have been identified by the Special Investigation Team.
According to police, the 18 accused were found to be involved in the violence after Friday prayers following a call to close down the shops to protest against the remarks made on the Prophet by BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, on June 3 at the Parade and its adjoining areas including the Nai Sadak.
So far, 62 persons including Hayat Zafar Hashmi, the main accused of the violence, besides his financiers Mukhtar Baba (owner of Baba Biryani) and builder Haji Wasi have been arrested and sent to jail in this regard.
Joint commissioner of police Anand Prakash Tewari said, “The SIT have identified 18 more persons found to be involved in June 3 violence, SIT has also obtained NBW against them and soon they will be behind bars.”
If these accused are not arrested, then the process of attachment will be started against them, the JCP added.
On June 6, the police had released posters of the suspects involved in the violent clash and issued their photographs after scanning the CCTV and video footage.
Police had also appealed to the people to help them in locating the suspects. Apart from this, the police had also announced that the names of those who will provide inputs regarding their whereabouts will be kept secret.
