Kanpur: An FIR has been registered against one of the accused, who is out on bail in the Sanjit Yadav murder case, his brother and their unidentified aide for demanding extortion money at gun-point.
The FIR was lodged at Barra police station on the instructions of DCP South Raveena Tyagi.
Vikas Gautam, a resident of Ambedkar Nagar Kachchi Basti, Barra, in his complaint alleged that on May 9, he was going to Narwal with his mother Mamta Devi on a two-wheeler when Ramji Shukla, his brother Shyamji Shukla and their one unidentified aide riding on two-wheelers stopped them near Meharban Singh Ka Purwa.
Shyamji took out a pistol, aimed it at Vikas and demanded Rs 5 lakh as extortion money or else face dire consequences.
When Vikas resisted and raised an alarm, the accused fled, threatening him of dire consequences.
As per the complainant, Ramji Shukla, his brother Shyamji and their aides roam around in the area and extort money from people.
Vikas claimed that he went to Meherban Singh Ka Purva police out-post and tried to lodge a complaint about the incident but the policemen on duty refused to do so.
Subsequently, Vikas approached DCP South on Friday and narrated his ordeal. On the orders of the DCP, the Barra police registered a case against the accused. Barra police said that evidence is being collected for further action in the case.
Ramji Shukla is one of the accused in Sanjit Yadav murder case.
Sanjit, a 27-year-old pathologist, was kidnapped on June 22 and strangled to death after five days.
