Ration Shop Permit Of Violence Accused’s Relative Suspended | Kanpur News

Kanpur: The district supply office has suspended the permit of a ration shop being run by a relative of Hayat Zafar Hashmi, the prime accused in the June 3 violence in the city after Friday namaz.
According to the supply department, action was taken after irregularities were found in the distribution of foodgrains.
The shop near Prem Nagar Gurdwara was in the name of M/s Silai Kadhai Audyogik Utpadan Cooperative Society. Its secretary is Hashmi’s relative Haseen Zafar Hashmi.
District supply officer Jitendra Pathak said that the contract letter of the shop has been suspended due to irregularities in the distribution of food grains. “During the investigation, irregularities ranging from one to two kg per card were found in the distribution of grains. Due to this, the contract with the committee has been suspended,” he said. Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar Fans Association president Zafar Hayat Hashmi had led a protest after announcing the closure of shops on June 3 in the city seeking the arrest of suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, who had allegedly made objectionable remarks against Prophet Muhammmad during a TV channel debate.
For this, he had also claimed to garner the support of many organizations and ulama.
On June 3, however, there was large-scale stone-pelting and violence during the bandh at the Parade and its adjoining areas. Hashmi, accused of rioting, was arrested from Lucknow along with his three associates and sent to jail.
