Raped many times by relative, 16-year-old gives birth in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda | Kanpur News

KANPUR: A 16-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped by one of her relatives, gave birth to a baby in a hospital in Banda district on Sunday.
Police have registered an FIR against the accused following a complaint.
The accused has been booked under sections 376 (3) (rape of person below 16 years), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), 504 (breach of peace) of the IPC and the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and an investigation has begun.
Inspector, Tindwari police station, Narendra Pratap Singh said, “The victim’s parents in their complaint stated that their 25-year-old relative, who is the resident of a village in Baberu Kotwali police area of the district, had raped their daughter for the first time on September 29, 2021. The crime had taken place while they had gone to work in the fields. Later, in the month of October 2021, the accused raped their daughter again when she had gone to her aunt’s place in Baberu. Since then, he raped her several times on the pretext of marriage.”
The survivor, however, did not talk about the ordeal with anyone, fearing retribution from the accused, said the inspector. “On July 13, however, when the girl’s condition deteriorated, her parents admitted her to hospital. Subsequently, they came to know about her pregnancy,” the police inspector said.
On Sunday morning, the girl gave birth to a healthy baby boy at the hospital.
“Simultaneously, following a complaint, we have booked the girl’s relative under the relevant IPC sections. The search is on for the accused,” he added.
(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
