pramila pandey: Mayor Directs Cleaning Of Nullahs | Kanpur News

Kanpur: Mayor Pramila Pandey on Tuesday directed the municipal commissioner and chief engineer to clean all nullahs and drains on a war-footing before the monsoon hits the city.
The mayor convened a meeting of officials on Tuesday noon in view of the coming monsoon. She asked the officials to not only clean or desilt the nullahs, but also ensure lifting of silt lying on roads otherwise all efforts would prove to be futile.
In another direction, she said that repairing of nullahs should also be completed before monsoon otherwise once nullahs are flooded with rainwater, repairing could not take place.
Pandey, before the meeting, randomly visited the paediatric ward of LLR hospital and was annoyed when she witnessed that two children were being treated on one bed. She reprimanded the head of the department and asked him to increase the number of beds for this ward. Prof Yashwant Rao apprised her that a letter to this effect had already been sent to the state administration. Soon, the number of beds would be enhanced. At present the ward has a strength of 120 beds and 20 ventilators and around 170 children patients are admitted. Due to the hot summer days, the number of child patients is increasing day by day.
Meanwhile, the family members of the patients complained that there was no arrangement of a cooler for them, and as a result they had to sit under the shadow of trees. The mayor assured them that a cooler would be arranged within 24 hours for them.
In compliance with her order, officials arranged coolers for patients. She would inaugurate the new facility on Wednesday.
