Patna Univ To Transfer Land For Metro Station | Patna News

PATNA: The Patna University (PU) syndicate on Tuesday agreed to transfer 2,000 square metres of land to the state government for construction of the proposed metro station near the intersection of Patna Science College and NIT Patna.
However, the syndicate at its meeting held under the chairmanship of vice-chancellor Girish Kumar Choudhary did not agree to hand over a portion of Science College ground for temporary storage of construction materials, keeping in view the larger interest of students who use the space for sports and games.
The syndicate, however, demanded that the construction agency of the state government to rebuild the buildings damaged during the construction of metro station.
The state government had earlier written to the PU for transfer of about 2,000 sq mtrs of land at Patna Science College for the proposed metro station at NIT Mor on Ganesh Dutt Road.
PU is also likely to lose some of its land in the ongoing construction of a link road from the Ganga Pathway through Krishna Ghat and also in the proposed construction of a double-decker flyover on Ashok Rajpath, said PU sources.
The syndicate also decided to hold annual convocation on May 21 this year after a gap of nearly three years. No convocation could be organized after 2019 owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. Students passing the examinations of 2020 would be invited to receive their degrees at the convocation, said PU students’ welfare dean Anil Kumar.
