One Killed As Dumper Rams Stationary Truck On Highway | Kanpur News


Kanpur: The attendant of a dumper truck died while its driver sustained critical injuries after the vehicle rammed into a stationary truck near Koyla Nagar area of Chakeri on Kanpur-Lucknow highway in the wee hours of Sunday.
The traffic on Kanpur-Lucknow Highway remained disrupted for long after the accident. The jam which started from early hours of morning continued to pose hardships for commuters till 8am.

Police rushed to the spot and sent the critically injured driver and attendant to Kanshi Ram Trauma Centre where doctors declared the attendant dead and referred the driver to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital.
The driver Asif, a resident of Chhataini, Pukhrayan in Kanpur Dehat, had left for Unnao with his attendant Anant Tiwari (24), a resident of Ghatamapur, in a dumper when their vehicle rammed a stationary truck carrying pulses.
Due to the accident, vehicles coming from Naubasta were allowed to proceed towards Ramadevi through a single lane due to which there was a long queue of vehicles stretching to Naubasta on the highway.
Police later cleared the highway by removing both the vehicles with the help of a crane after which traffic was restored on both lanes.
Chakeri police station in-charge Shailendra Singh said the attendant died and the driver was seriously injured in the accident. Further investigations are underway after informing their family members.
