Kanpur: The mid-day meal distributed in the schools was found substandard and not according to the menu. The additional city magistrates in their random inspection observed it and communicated it to the district magistrate on Tuesday.
The district magistrate had asked all additional city magistrates to randomly check all primary schools under their jurisdiction and check the quality of the mid-day meal being served to children.
Additional city magistrate-II in his report stated that the agency had not supplied the mid-day meal in Gowardhan Purwa and TP Line Rail Bazar primary schools till 11 am. The Basic Shiksha Adhikari has been directed to issue show cause notice to the agency for not supplying the meal in the stipulated time.
The ACM-IV inspected Madhyamik Kanya Vidyalaya Karachi Khana and Purva Madhyamik Vidyalaya Sadar Bazar and found that that mid-day meal was being supplied by the same agency in both the schools. As per the menu, there was no vegetable dish in the meal and the quality of food was also not according to the standard. The officers had been directed to deduct funds in the bills of the agency.
The ACM-VI inspected RBRD Girls Inter College and Primary School in Jageshwar where too only one agency was supplying the mid-day meal. The quality of daal“ was not according to the set standard. Directions were issued to deduct the funds from the bill raised by the agency and also issue show cause notice to it.
