Kanpur: Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC) has issued notices to 410 owners of the dilapidated buildings. Out of them, only five dilapidated have so far been demolished as per the KMC records.
Mayor Pramila Pandey on Wednesday held a meeting of all zonal engineers and asked them what action they had taken against the dilapidated buildings.
Sidharth Gautam of zone-1 told the mayor that there were around 221 dilapidated buildings in his zone and notices had been served to their owners. SK Singh, chief engineer of zone-2 said that out of 5 dilapidated houses in his zone, one house had been demolished.
Assistant engineer Nanak Chand stated that of 40 dilapidated houses in his zone three of them were quite old. When assistant engineer Satish Chandra Kamal said there are around 120 dilapidated houses in zone-4, the mayor directed him to get his area inspected and demolish the houses in dilapidated condition and send a report to her. She said that encroachments ear Eidgah should be demolished.
RK Singh of zone-5 said that out of 11 dilapidated houses in his area, most of them are in litigation while Ramesh Kumar Pal said out of 12 dilapidated houses four of them had been demolished in zone- 6 while the remaining are under litigation.
The Mayor has asked all zonal engineers to conduct videography of all dilapidated buildings and give report in next meeting on August 5.
