New Green Bus Depot To Operate From July 4 | Kanpur News

Kanpur: The new Signature Green bus depot at Vikas Nagar is expected to start operating from July 4. In the first phase, buses will ply on nine routes- Delhi, Lucknow, Mainpuri, Auraiya’s Bidhuna and Farrukhabad. UPSRTC’s regional manager Anil Agarwal said, “The new bus depot will be equipped with a fleet of 40 buses. It will have a capacity to park 20 buses at one go. This will be the fourth bus station which will cater to the needs of lakhs of people, particularly city’s North area. People living in areas like Nawabganj, Kalyanpur, Old Kanpur, Swaroop Nagar, Vikas Nagar, Ambedkar Puram and IIT-Kanpur and it’s adjoining Nankari will also get benefit of the new bus depot.”
Currently, they have to go to Jhakarkati bus stand to board buses of other routes including Lucknow and Delhi, he added. The UPSRTC managing director is likely to visit the city before July 4, said a senior UPSRTC official adding, “Authorities are trying to finish the work in a few days and the new bus station will start operating from July 4.” A team of UPSRTC including executive engineer Daya Shankar Shakya inspected the bus station on Tuesday and enquired about the progress with the authorities. Divisional Commissioner Raj Shekhar had also instructed the KDA and transport officers to complete the remaining work of the bus stand by June 30. Recently, MLA Surendra Maithani had also requested the Transport Minister to make this bus station operational. TNN
