Naresh Elected As Prez, Anurag General Secy In Kba Repoll | Kanpur News


Kanpur: Naresh Chandra Tripathi and Anurag Srivastava have been elected as president and general secretary respectively of Kanpur Bar Association (KBA) for the year 2022.
Naresh, who has also been KBA general secretary earlier, got 1,764 votes and defeated his nearest rival Pramod Kumar Dwivedi by a margin of 1002 votes. Pramod Kumar Dwivedi received the support of 762 advocate members. Avinash Chandra Bajpai, who was also former general secretary of KBA, stood at the third place with 650 votes. Ramendra Singh Katiyar, former KBA president, got support of 464 members and stood at the fourth place. Ram Singh Gaur got the fifth place with 176 votes. Ten votes were declared as null and void.
Anurag Srivastava has been elected as general secretary. He obtained the highest 955 votes among the nine contestants. He defeated his nearest rival Aditya Kumar Singh by a margin of 182 votes who had got 773 votes. Ram Ji Dubey stood at the third place with 576 votes and Pawan Kumar Tiwari got the fourth position with 492 votes. Prashant Kumar Bajpai (390 votes), Ram Niwas Singh (320 votes), Devendra Kumar Sharma (272 votes), Abdul Anees Shah ( 2 votes) and Shashank Singh Katiyar (7 votes ) stood at fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth places respectively.
As soon as the results of two key posts were declared, the supporters of two elected advocates garlanded them and distributed sweets. Later, talking to mediapersons they said that they would work in the interest of advocates and try to restore the old image of advocates of Kanpur.
Both Naresh and Anurag who had taken lead in the initial rounds of counting maintained it till last while others witnessed ups and down during the counting.
The counting began in the afternoon session. Repolling of KBAs annual general election was held on April 26 at DAV Degree College under close supervision of district and police administration.
The first-time polling had taken place on December 17 last but it was cancelled due to violence.
