Muslim Man Held For Dalit Girl’s Rape | Kanpur News

Kanpur: The police, on Thursday, arrested a Muslim man for raping and impregnating a mentally challenged minor Dalit Hindu girl.
The incident came to light when the girl’s family members found about her pregnancy. Subsequently, they filed a report against the accused at the Barra police station under the relevant sections of rape, POCSO and SC/ST act.
A property dealer lives with his minor son and a mentally challenged 16-year-old daughter in Barra police area.
As per the property dealer, about six years ago, his wife had left him and children and started living in Juhi police station area, said police.
“He said that one Rehan, a resident of the same area, raped his minor mentally challenged girl several times in name of love-affair. He came to know about his daughter’s pregnancy from his son’s friend,” said police further.
Later, when, he asked his daughter she said that Rehan had raped her by intimidating her. She said that Rehan had also pressurized her to convert and marry her and also threatened to eliminate her family if she refused, said the police. “When he reached Rehan’s house to apprise his parents about the whole issue, Rehan thrashed his son and threatened to kill him,” said police.
Subsequently, he lodged an FIR against the accused at Barra police station on Tuesday.
The girl was sent for medical examination on Wednesday evening, but her medical could not be done there. She was asked to come again on Thursday morning. However, on Thursday morning, the girl went missing following which her father accused Rehan of abduction.
However, later police found that the girl had gone to her mother’s house in Juhi police area. She was brought to the police station.
Inspector Barra Dinanath Mishra said that the girl’s medical examination, besides her statement, would be recorded before the magistrate on Friday. “Further action will be based on the same,” he added. Joint Commissioner of Police Anand Prakash Tiwari said that he has ordered the station in-charge to conduct a DNA test of the accused, and also an inquiry into the conversion attempt.
Meanwhile, Bajrang Dal activists created a ruckus at the police station alleging that the police are not taking stringent action in the case.
