Mumbai Batsmen Pile Up 4 For 449 In Second Innings Against Up In Semi-final Tie | Kanpur News


Kanpur: As expected Mumbai batsmen using the fourth day’s game for batting practice piled up 4 for 449 in their second innings against UP in the ongoing semi-final tie at the Just Cricket ground on Friday.
Mumbai has obtained 662 runs lead so far still have six wickets in hand. Since they had not declared their innings, it can be presumed that they would continue their batting practice on the fifth and the final day of the tie.
Mumbai had scored 393 runs in its first innings and in reply UP collapsed on 180 runs.
Yashasvi Bhupendra Jaiswal and Armaan Jaffar resumed Mumbai’s second innings in the morning from overnight score 1 for 133 and passed the complete morning session in settling themselves as they added just 98 runs in two-and half-hour play. Thereafter in the second session, they geared up the scoring rate and added 286 runs in their partnership for the second wicket.
Shivam Mavi broke their partnership by claiming the wicket of Jaffar for 127. He was caught by the substitute player Aryan Juyal. Jaffar faced 259 balls and hit 15 boundaries and 2 sixes in his innings. Yashasvi too completed his second successive century and registered his name in the list of the batsmen who had scored centuries in both innings of Ranji trophy.
It was Yashasvi’s bad luck that he could not complete his double hundred. When he was on 181, Prince Yadav bagged his wicket. Yashasvi too was held by substitute Aryan Juyal. He played 372 balls and struck 23 hits to the fence and one six.
Earlier, Prince captured the Suved Parkar’s wicket who had joined the company of Yashaswi after Jaffar. Parkar scored 22 runs before giving a return catch to Prince.
At close, SZ Mulani and SN Khan were batting on 10 and 23 runs respectively. For UP, Prince Yadav has emerged as a successful bowler so far claiming 2 wickets for 69 runs.
