Monsoon Showers Bring Relief, Woes Of Waterlogging | Kanpur News

Kanpur: Much awaited monsoon showers finally lashed the city on Thursday morning giving relief to citizens from heat and sultriness. However, the rains brought along woes of waterlogging and slippery roads too.
After witnessing drizzling at some places on Wednesday, the city witnessed heavy showers on Thursday morning giving the feel that the monsoon had set in.
Juhi railway under bridge, like every year, was again submerged with sewer water and blocked the traffic movement towards the road connecting the city’s south area. The traffic was later diverted to Babupurwa Ghantaghar road.
A long queue of vehicles could be seen on the bridge.
Several vehicles took the one-way side bridge for Kanpur South despite being stopped by cops. Near Ganges flour mill crossing, police challaned many vehicles for violating traffic rule.
Waterlogging was also witnessed in several localities of Kanpur South and near Central railway station. Silt extracted from nullahs was not picked up and hence was spread on road due to rains. As a result, roads turned slippery posing danger for many and many commuters even got injured.
The traffic movement increased when intensity of rains reduced leading to jam-like situations at prominent crossings like Ghantaghar and Ganges flour Mill crossing.
