Kanpur: A fire broke out close to the railway tracks near Kidari railway crossing in Mahoba on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.
The incident affected the movement of Nizamuddin-Jabalpur bound Mahakaushal express.
Sources informed that Mahakaushal Express halted for around an hour after the fire that broke out in the jungles on the side of the track, some distance from the Kidari railway crossing of Mahoba. On the information of the loco pilot, the GRP and fire brigade brought the fire under control. After this the train could proceed towards the destination. Due to the incident panic and chaos prevailed among the passengers of the train.
The Mahakaushal Express from Nizamuddin to Jabalpur reached Mahoba station at around 11.40 pm on Friday night. After taking a two-minute stop, the train left for an onward journey.
While heading towards Banda, the train had just crossed the Kidari railway crossing when the loco pilot informed the control room that there was a fire on the side of the track. On information about the fire near the pole no: 1273/4-5, RPF officials and personnel, and GRP officials, including inspector Hariom Mishra along with the fire brigade team rushed to the spot and doused the fire.
Assistant sub-inspector of fire brigade Rama Shankar said the fire was brought under control immediately. “During this, from 11.53 to 12.54, Mahakaushal Express remained stranded 100 meters away from the Kidari railway crossing. After the fire was doused, the train services were restored,” he said further.
