Kanpur: P Vidyuth’s four wickets, including a hat-trick in the last over, helped Madras University to won the coveted Rohintan Baria trophy defeating Delhi University by 5 runs in the final of All India Inter-University cricket championship played at the university ground here on Friday
Delhi University’s batsmen were responsible for their defeat because they required 7 runs in the last over with four wickets in hand. P Vidyut came for the last over and picked the wickets of Arpit Rana Yashjeet, Prince Chaudhary and Aman on 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th balls respectively. All were caught by the players at deep midwicket and long off region.
At the end of the 19th over, Arpit Rana was batting on 65 runs and was well settled. His departure pressed the panic button and the remaining batsmen lost their cool. They went for big hits and offered simple catches and finals too. The innings of Delhi Univ. folded on 114 runs.
