kuthaund: Woman Threatens To End Life In Protest Against Police Inaction | Kanpur News


Kanpur: The Kuthaund police station in Jalaun witnessed a drama on Tuesday when a woman climbed atop a tree and threatened to commit suicide in protest against alleged inaction of the police regarding a land dispute.
According to the police, Sangeeta of Chandawali village climbed up the tree in the evening, and demanded immediae arrest of the culprits.
Later, police personnel reached the spot and brought down the protester after assured her of prompt action into the case.
On Tuesday morning, Sangeeta, a resident of village Chandawali, had a fight with some villagers regarding a land related dispute.
Thereafter, Sangeeta gave a written complaint to the Kanjhari police post which comes under Kuthaund police station, but the police allegedly did not take any action regarding her complaint. Irked over this, Sangeeta reached Kuthaund police station at around 4.30 pm and again pleaded before the police to initiate action against the culprits.
Later, on getting no response, she climbed atop a neem tree on the premises of the police station and threatened to commit suicide if her grievance was not redressed soon.
On being informed, Circle Officer (Sadar) Santosh Kumar rushed to the police station and as a precautionary move, arranged for a tarpaulin and a net and tied it around the tree. After much persuasion, the CO managed to bring the woman down.
CO Santosh Kumar said, “We have assured to investigate and take necessary action in her case.”
