Kanpur: Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) on Tuesday planted around 7500 saplings in Phool Bagh under the plantation drive of the state government to keep the city green.
KDA vice-chairman Arvind Singh and officials and staff members of KDA participated in the plantation drive. The vice-chairman inaugurated the drive by planting mango and gooseberry saplings. He told the people gathered there about the important role played by plants in human life. “The trees not only give oxygen to humans but also make the atmosphere pollution free”, he said.
Thereafter, other people planted saplings of mango (Amrapali and Malika species), goose berry, jatropha, chandni etc. He hoped these plants will not only increase the green cover but also provide a clean and pollution free atmosphere to morning and evening walkers.
