Kanpur: Continuing crackdown against gangsters, Kanpur police zone seized property worth Rs 239.03 crore in a span of 100 days. This property seized belonged to 490 criminals.
The zone comprises districts of Auraiya, Etawah, Kannauj, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Outer, Jalaun, Jhansi and Lalitpur.
Police said that some of the biggest seizures included properties of gangster Vikas Dubey, worth Rs 50 crore, along history sheeter Anupam Dubey worth Rs 22 crore.
The police in districts also booked 11 under the charges of stringent NSA in the same period.Additional Director General of police, Kanpur Zone, Bhanu Bhaskar, said the property of criminals have been seized under the due process of law and following of all quasi judicial procedure. “Consistent efforts have also been taken to persue cases of crime against women and children. Properties of 13 habitual liquor mafias, and 45 of those involved in cases of cow slaughter cases have been seized,” he said.
“In the same period, on the instructions of the UP CM Yogi Adityanath, we have also evicted encroachment on major roads in our eight districts worth about Rs 455 crore,” said Bhaskar.
The officer also said that 758 criminals have been externed from the eight districts while a history sheet of as many as 117 criminals have been opened,said the officer.
The police zone chief also added that in order to maintain peace and amity in the region, regular meetings and sessions with 3,650 religious leaders of different faiths have been conducted by the police.
Bhaskar said that under a special operation on pending cases in all the eight districts under his zone was carried out in which as many as 20,140 cases were completed and 29,958 accused in these cases were also taken behind the bars.
