KANPUR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 296-km Bundelkhand Expressway, which will connect Chitrakoot in the Bundelkhand region with Lucknow-Agra Expressway near Etawah, on Saturday.
This is the fourth major expressway of the state.
Preparations are being made for the arrival of the PM and the stage has been prepared for a public meeting in Katheri village of Orai tehsil in Jalaun. A water-proof pandal has been set up for the public, so that the people do not face any kind of inconvenience in case of rain, officials told TOI. The Bundelkhand Expressway project was completed in 28 months, eight months ahead of its deadline. With the launch of this expressway, the economy of the region will improve as the local farmers will be directly connected to the markets in Delhi. Also, the industrial sector will also get a new dimension. This expressway, along with Lucknow-Agra Expressway and Yamuna Expressway — will connect the Bundelkhand region to the national capital.
Officials said tourism will also get a boost by this expressway. Places like Mahoba, Jalaun, Chitrakoot, etc will get direct connectivity to other major centres of the country.
This will provide employment opportunities and stop migration, they say.
