Kanpur: Man strangles wife to death in Naubasta on illicit affair suspicion | Kanpur News


KANPUR: A man brutally strangled his wife to death on suspicion of illicit relations, in Naubasta‘s Rajiv Nagar area, on Sunday morning. After the murder, the accused fled from the spot.
The police, who reached after receiving information, collected evidence from the spot with the help of Forensic experts, and sent the body for postmortem.
The accused, Haider, lived with his wife Chandni (26), and two children, daughter Saima (5) and son Hasan (2), in a rented accomodation in Rajiv nagar area of Naubasta. Hesuspected his wife of having an illicit relationship with another tenant living in the neighborhood and often quarrelled with Chandni.
The incident came to light on Sunday morning, when neighbors, on hearing the cries of the children, rushed to their home and found Chandni’s body lying on the bed. Locals immediately informed the police control room and the deceased’s sister, living in the Babupurwa area of the city.
Naubasta police station in-charge, Amit Kumar Bhadana reached the spot.
During preliminary investigation confirmed that the woman was strangled to death with a ‘dupatta’ (scarf). The woman’s daughter Saima told the police that there was a fight between her parents on Saturday night. “She went to sleep with her younger brother, and when she woke up in the morning, she found her mother lying on the bed. When she did not wake up, the girl started crying in fear,” said police.
Deceased woman’s sister, alleged that her brother-in-law Haider used to beat Chandni every day on suspicion of having an illicit affair.
Bhadana said that strangulation marks have been found on the neck of the deceased. “Along with recording the statement of the girl child, search is on for the husband,” he added.
