June 3 Violence Accused Shifted To Other Dist Jails | Kanpur News


Kanpur: The eight accused of the city’s June 3 violence, including the main accused Hayat Zafar Hashmi, and one alleged member of PFI, have been shifted to different jails of the state for security reasons.
Hashmi has been transferred to Chitrakoot jail, his three aides Mohammad Rahil to Pilibhit jail, Mohammad Sufian to Sonbhadra jail and Javed Ahmed Khan to Basti jail.
Police had also arrested PFI member Mohammad Umar in the case. He has been transferred to Lakhimpur Kheri jail.
Apart from this, Mohammad Faisal has been transferred to Sultanpur jail and former SP leader Nizam Qureshi to Deoria and one Saud Kalia to Kasganj jail. District jail superintendent RK Jaiswal said, “Eight accused of June 3 violence have been transferred from here to jails of other districts for security reasons. Out of this, six accused have been sent on Saturday and two on Sunday. After the orders from the state government, the transfer process of the accused has been done.”
Violence had rocked Parade and its adjoining areas on June 3 in the city and a dozen people were injured in heavy brick-batting that took place between members of the two communities after Friday prayers. Members of the minority community had staged a protest against BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, who allegedly made objectionable remarks against the Prophet during a TV debate.
