In Bid To Grab Land, Builder Wasi Paid ₹10l To Hashmi | Kanpur News

Kanpur: The June 3 violence in Parade and its adjoining areas including Nai Sadak was carried with an intention to grab the Chandreshwar Hata. For this, builder Haji Wasi had given Rs 10 lakh as a token money to the organization of the main accused Hayat Zafar Hashmi.
After the Hata was vacated, another installment of Rs 90 lakh was to be given to Hashmi.
This was revealed by Wasi during the interrogation by the sleuths of the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
According to SIT sources, builder Wasi told during interrogation that he was eyeing the land of Chandreshwar Hata for as long as he wanted to build a market with apartments there.
“Later, he came in contact with Hashmi. Hayat said that he is going to stage a protest on the objectionable statement of the former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma,” said sources.
Sources further said that Wasi told the police that after hearing this, he made a plan to get the Hata vacated.
“For this, he made a deal with Hashmi for Rs 1 crore. He gave Rs 10 lakh to Hashmi in cash. The rest of the amount was to be given in cash only after the Hata was vacated,” sources added.
“During the interrogation of builder Haji Wasi, the matter of transaction of money for vacating Chandeshwar Hata has come to the fore. From where and how this money was to come, it will be investigated. Further action will be taken based on the further findings,” said SIT in-charge and DCP (East) Pramod Kumar.
The police, meanwhile, have received an anonymous letter in which the exploits of the builder Haji Wasi have been disclosed.
“We have received an anonymous letter. We will investigate it and take necessary actions,” said joint commissioner of police Anand Prakash Tewari.
