hardik: Hardik’s Ton Propels Mumbai To 393 | Kanpur News

Kanpur: The persistent knock by Hardik Jitendra Tamore (115) and SZ Mulani (50) propelled Mumbai to 393 runs in their first innings on the second day of their five-day Ranji Trophy semifinal against Uttar Pradesh being played at Just cricket ground in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
In reply, Uttar Pradesh suffered two quick jolts, Samarth Singh (0) and Priyam Garg (3), in the beginning of the innings at the fag end of the day.
Opener Madhav Kaushik and Karan Sharma stemmed the rot and returned unbeaten on 11 and 10 runs, respectively, when the umpires called the day. At stumps, UP were 25 for 2 in 12 overs.
UP suffered first shock when Samarth Singh edged Dhawal Kulkarni to wicketkeeper Hardik Jitendra Tamore on the very first ball. Priyam Garg too could not hold his ground and Tushar Deshpande breached his defence when he was on just 3 runs.
Thereafter, Madhav and captain Karan Sharma played the remaining overs safely.
Mumbai resumed its first innings in the morning from an overnight score of 260/5. Overnight not out batsmen Hardik Tamore and SZ Mulani prevented Uttar Pradesh bowlers from getting any success in the first session. The duo played patiently against UP bowlers and scored runs on loose balls only. This was evident from the fact that Hardik faced 233 balls and Mulani played 130 balls.
They added 113 runs in their sixth wicket partnership which made Mumbai stronger.
Skipper Karan Sharma ultimately broke their union claiming Mulani’s wicket for 50 when Madhav Kaushik held him neatly. If day one was of Yashaswi then the second day belonged to Hardik who scored a well awaited century and executed 113 runs partnership for the sixth wicket.
Thereafter, he added 40 runs for the seventh wicket with Tanush Kotian (22). He was the last batsman of the innings who fell prey to Saurabh Kumar. Wicketkeeper Dhruv Chand Jurel caught him behind the wicket. He hammered 12 boundaries and a six in his innings. Karan Sharma emerged as the most successful bowler claiming four wickets giving away 46 runs.
Uttar Pradesh now needs 2-3 big innings and partnerships to stay in the match. They have batsmen like Rinku Singh, Madhav Kaushik, Karan Sharma, and Dhruv Jurel.
Coach Vijay Dahia is hopeful that his boys would leave no stone unturned to score 394.
