gaya: Ganga Water Supply To Gaya Likely To Start By May-end | Patna News

GAYA: Water supply under the Ganga Water Lift Project (GWLP) is likely to start by May 30 this year to many households in Gaya and Bodh Gaya, as around 94% work is near completion.
While reviewing the progress of works in Gaya and Rajgir, a team of senior administrative officials on Thursday issued directions to officials of the water resources department to complete the project work by July end this year.
The officials, who conducted the inspection include chief secretary Amir Subhani, additional chief secretary, finance, S Siddharth, housing and urban development principal secretary Anand Kishore, public health and engineering department secretary Jitendra Shrivastava, water resources department secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, secretary to chief minister Anupam Kumar, Magadh divisional commissioner Mayank Warwade and Gaya DM Thiyagarajan SM.
At Manpur in Gaya, the officials were informed that water supply would start by May 30 from the water treatment plant at Abgila through two pipelines. One pipeline will be connected to the overhead tank at Bodh Gaya, while the other will be connected to the overhead tank at Murli Hills. Construction of a water reservoir and pump house will be soon completed.
After Gaya, the team reviewed the project work at Motnaje in Rajgir besides, storage, treatment and supply of water through pipeline from Hathidah. Under the project, a well-cum-pump house has been constructed at Marachi village near Hathidah, where water will be lifted from Ganga during the rainy season which will be supplied to Gaya, Rajgir and Nawada through 151 km long pipeline.
