Gau-sewak Killed A Day Before His ‘tilak’ Ceremony | Kanpur News


Kanpur: A 25-year-old man, whose ‘Tilak’ ceremony was scheduled on Monday, was murdered by some unidentified assailants in Saadh police area of Ghatampur on Sunday.
According to police, Maan Singh alias Lalu Yadav, was found murdered in Padri village on Sunday morning. Police are yet to find out the reason behind the murder.
According to his family members, Maan Singh used to work as a ‘Gau-Sewak’ and left home for ‘Gaushala’ on a two-wheeler after dinner on Saturday night. He used to do night duty in ‘Gaushala’ in the village itself.
On Sunday morning, villagers found his body with injury marks lying near a small canal on outskirts of the village, said police.
“According to the family, Maan Singh’s ‘tilak’ ceremony was scheduled for Monday but he was killed a day before the event. The family claimed to have no enmity with anyone,” said circle officer Ghatampur Sushil Kumar Dubey.
Injury marks on his head showed that he was brutally attacked and gagged as a piece of a cloth was found stuck in mouth of the body. As per the preliminary findings, the miscreants had also tied a rope around his neck and dragged him as A two-meter long piece of blood-soaked rope and a broken ‘butt’ of an illegal firearm and spring were found near the body. “Also, the bike and slippers of the deceased were found lying inside the canal,” said an investigator.
Neighbours informed the police after which, police along with Special Task Force, forensic team and a dog squad reached the spot.
Elder brother Rajan Yadav told police that his younger brother Maan Singh, used to do night duty at the ‘gaushala’ in the village. “After having dinner, at around 10.30 on Saturday night, he left for ‘Gaushala’ on a bike. Villagers found Maan Singh’s body lying in a field on the banks of a canal on Sunday morning after which the police were informed,” he said.
Saadh police station incharge Mansoor Ahmed said, “The killers also tried to mislead by throwing belongings of the deceased here and there. Both the mobiles of the deceased, slippers and purse were found lying at some distance. The police have sent the body for post-mortem. We are working on every possible angle to nab the accused.”
