Kanpur: In a love story that fits perfectly with the script of a Bollywood block-buster and also proves that love knows no boundaries, a Farrukhabad lad tied the knot with a Pakistan girl whom he had befriended on social media.
On its part, the Farrukhabad district administration has promised all help to the couple, saying the girl could get a temporary visa for the first one year which could be extended upto three years. During this, she could apply for permanent nationality under the Special Marriage Act.
Mohd Jamal, a 23-year-old zardozi artisan hailing from Gadhi Khankhana locality of Farrukhabad tied the knot with Eram (20) of Gharibabad town of Karachi in Pakistan after their love blossomed through social media platforms.
When Jamal came to know that his girlfriend was from across the border, he didn’t lose his heart and decided to marry her and bring her to India, his family members told TOI on Monday.
“Jamal left the house on June 7 and reached Pakistan on June 11,” they said and added, “The ‘nikah’ ceremony of Jamal and Eram was held on June 17. He has updated us on the phone and also sent a photograph of the ceremony.”
Speaking to TOI Jamal’s father Alimuddin said, “Now, we are eagerly waiting for the couple to return to India. Grand ceremony will be performed as per rituals once the newly married couple arrive here.”
