Family Resorts To Stone Pelting, Damages Police Vehicle After Youth Dies In Accident | Kanpur News


KANPUR: People indulged in heavy stone pelting and arson after the death of a man, who died in an accident when his bike was hit by a tractor-trolley carrying bricks in Kuthaund area of Jalaun district, on late Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Anil.
Following the incident, the mob also allegedly set a tractor-trolley and few shops on fire and also damaged police vehicles.
As per police, the incident took place on the Jalaun-Auraiya road.
The situation was only pacified when the force of near by police stations reached the spot and used a tried to control the irate mob. Seven people have been detained by the police in connection with the stone pelting and arson.
The police said that the incident occurred at around 1am on Wednesday night when a tractor -trolley loaded with bricks was heading towards the city from the Auraiya side.
“On the way, the tractor hit a bike coming from the opposite direction following which one Anil, a resident of Tikri, suffered critical wounds and died on the spot, while pillion rider, Anurag suffered serious wounds,” said the police.
As per the kin, Anil along with his friend Anurag was going to Laxmi Garden in Kuthaund to attend his relative’s wedding when the mishap occurred.
As soon as the news of Anil’s death spread Anil’s family members and relatives reached the spot and resorted to heavy stone pelting,.
The police on being informed rushed to the spot, but the agitated family did not even spare the police personnel and damaged the police vehicle.
They also entered into a scuffle with the policemen. Later, the situation was only pacified when the force of nearby police stations was requisitioned at the spot.
Superintendent of police Ravi Kumar reached the spot and took note of the situation.
In view of the tension, heavy police force has been deployed at the spot. SP said that along with taking action against the driver responsible for the accident, strict action will also be taken against those who resorted to stone pelting and arson.
