Kanpur: One official and as many as 63 employees were found absent in various government departments during an inspection by district magistrate Vishak G Iyer on Wednesday morning.
The district magistrate issued directions of stopping one day’s salary of the absent employees and asked them to explain why action should not be taken against them.
He stated the state government’s orders say that all officials and employees would be present in the office in time and conduct public hearing in a time-bound manner. In this context, he had sent administrative officers to various offices at 10am to check the presence of officials and employees.
Laxmi N joint magistrate and incharge chief development officer visited district social welfare office, and project officer DUDA. District social welfare officer and one employee were absent from the social welfare office, and executive and junior engineers were found absent. Anurag Jain joint magistrate/ SDM Kanpur Sadar raided Sadar Tehsil and found 13 employees were absent.
Dayanand Prasad (ADM fin & rev) visited the office of Basic Shiksha Adhikari and found 21 employees were absent. Satendra Kumar ADM (Land Acquistion) inspected the district inspector of schools office and found 15 employees were absent. Atul Kumar ADM City visited the registry officer and found all were present.
Gulab Chandra Agrahari, additional city magistrate (fourth), raided the district supply office and found 11 employees were absent.
