Development And Security Are Govt’s Priorities: Min | Kanpur News

Kanpur: The two main priorities of the state government is development and security, said minister for livestock and milk development and in-charge of Kanpur region, Dharam Pal Singh.
The government is keen to provide security and benefits of all welfare schemes to the last person of the society, he added.
Presiding over a review meeting of development work of the district here on Monday, Singh said Kanpur City has around 405 slums, and on the proposals of people’s representatives, 200 have been identified for development. A proposal of Rs 73 crore for their development has been sent to the state government, he said.
“All eligible slums dwellers should be provided residence under the Pradhan Mantri Awas scheme. Apart from it, the officials concerned should make available drinking water and proper sanitation in the slums”, he said.
While reviewing the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Singh directed the officials to pay special attention to the quality of housing.
The eligibility list of housing should be prepared with complete transparency and be made public so that there is no scope for any manipulation in it, he told the officials.
Expressing displeasure over unsatisfactory works in “Har Ghar Nai Scheme’, he directed the officials to accelerate the pace of the progress of work. Cow shelters established in the district should be made self-sufficient, he said.
The farmers should be encouraged for organic farming and its benefits should be explained to them, Singh said
Reviewing the steps taken to check floods, he asked the officials to clean and desilt all drains before the rainy season.
