Covid-19 Spikes In Dist; 19 New Cases Recorded | Kanpur News


Kanpur: Covid cases are on a rise in the district. On Friday, 19 fresh cases were recorded. This was double the number of cases recorded on the previous day.
On the first day of August, only six Covid cases were recorded by the district health department, 19 cases were recorded on Friday while 13 persons recovered. The active cases, however, have increased. On August 1, there were 44 active cases which increased to 78 on Friday evening (August 5). On August 2, 13 Covid cases were identified and on the next day 17 fresh cases were recorded, and on August 4 (Thursday), 10 cases were identified. On Thursday, the active case count was 72.
The new Covid cases were identified from Chamanganj, Barra, Tilak Nagar, IIT, Kidwai Nagar and Babu Purwa. The health department stated that they collected little over 2,604 samples for conducting Covid test. The test report is likely to be available in the next 24 hours. Meanwhile, a vaccination drive is also going on simultaneously. Chief medical officer Dr Alok Ranjan said the vaccination drive will be carried out at 144 places on Saturday. The drive for those between the age of 15 and 18 years would be carried out at 25 other centres where 2500 doses will be administered.
For children between the age of 12 and 14 years, 11 vaccination centres have been set up where 100 vaccine doses would be administered. Meanwhile, booster doses would be administered at 144 centres.
