Kanpur: The metropolitan magistrate (I), Kanpur Nagar on Monday extended the judicial custody remand of perfume trader Piyush Kumar Jain till July 4 in the gold and cash recovery case. Since the special chief judicial magistrate/ACMM-II was on leave the matter was put before the link court. Accused Piyush Jain appeared before the CMM-I court virtually. The court, after hearing him and perusing the file, extended his judicial custody and fixed July 4 as the next date, informed special prosecutor Ambrish Tandon. Piyush was a partner in M/s Odochem Industries. The DGGI Ahmedabad during the raid and search operations at his office-cum-residential accommodation had seized a huge amount of unaccounted cash to the tune of Rs 196.58 crore and 32 gold bars weighing approximately 23 kg.
