Civic Worker Murder Case: Five Arrested | Kanpur News

Kanpur: The police have arrested five more persons including a minor in connection with the brutal murder of 35-year-old civic worker- Snjay Kumar in Govind Nagar, Kachi Basti area on Tuesday night. The civic worker was murdered following a dispute with local hoodlums of the area.
The brother of the deceased Kamal had filed a case against 10 accused, including four brothers and their uncle, under sections like rioting, murder, 7 CLA. Initially, the police had arrested two accused in this regard. On Friday, the police arrested Vishal, Shiva, Bhola, Anish and a 15-year-old minor. Govind Nagar police station in-charge Ashish Kumar Dwivedi said that five accused have been arrested from near Kachi Basti Railway line area. Raids are underway to make the arrest of three other accused possible.
The police said that breakthrough came while all five were planning to surrender in court.
After producing them in the court, the police later sent the adult accused to jail, while one minor accused was sent to the correction home. So far the police have arrested and sent seven people to jail. According to the police, on the basis of inputs provided by those arrested also recovered five ‘chapars’ and knives from near the railway line. The police said search is still on for three other accused, who are on the run. tnn
