Caste Census Need Ofhour, Says Tejashwi | Patna News

PATNA: Leader of opposition in state assembly Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Thursday said he would hit the roads if chief minister Nitish Kumar failed to fulfil his assurance of conducting caste-based census in the state.
BJP leader and minister Amrendra Pratap Singh, on the other hand, said it was not important to conduct caste-based census immediately in the state. “The state will not run on Tejashwi’s instruction,” he added. Tejashwi had held a meeting with Nitish over the issue on Wednesday.
A day after the meeting, the younger Yadav scion once again started putting pressure on the state government. Taking to twitter, he said if CM does not take any decision immediately, he will protest on the road.
Tejashwi also shared a letter on his twitter handle which he had handed over to the CM on Wednesday. In the letter, Tejashwi had urged the CM to once again make an appeal to the Centre to conduct caste-based census. “If the Centre refuses to do so, the state should conduct caste-based census with its own resources,” the letter read.
In the letter, Tejashwi also talked about the resolution on caste-based census which had been passed in Bihar legislature twice. He said it was necessary to know the exact population of the suppressed, poor and weaker sections of the society to make proper schemes for them and bring them to the mainstream.
