bjp: Jd(u): We Are With Bjp Only To Run Govt In State | Patna News

PATNA: Even as the BJP has set its eyes on introducing Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the states where it is in power, the party might find it difficult to implement it in Bihar, as its alliance partner JD(U) has a different ideological stand on it.
Articulating his party’s position over likely introduction of the Uniform Civil Code in the state, senior JD(U) minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav on Thursday said, “The BJP has its own ideology and we have our own. We are coalition partner of BJP in the state to run a government,” Yadav told the media in the backdrop of possible proximity between the JD(U) and opposition RJD led by Lalu Prasad.
Earlier, another senior JD(U) minister, Vijay Kumar Choudhary, had said his party would make its stand clear on the issue later.
Yadav said CM Nitish Kumar and other JD(U) leaders had attended the iftar party hosted by leader of opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, because they had been invited to the function.
However, former Bihar deputy CM and present Rajya Sabha member, Sushil Kumar Modi, clarified on Tuesday that he had never said the Uniform Civil Code would be introduced in Bihar. “Union home minister Amit Shah had said the BJP will introduce UCC in the states ruled by it,” SuMo had said in a press note. “In the states where the BJP is in power in coalition with other parties, any decision (on this matter) will be taken only in consultation with all the coalition partners,” he said, adding: “The Bihar NDA has been a model experiment in this regard.”
