biharsharif: Nalanda Schoolcook Shot Dead | Patna News

BIHARSHARIF: A school cook was shot dead at village Mai under Hilsa police station area in Nalanda district on Tuesday. The miscreants called the 70-year-old cook, identified as Sulochna Devi, wife of Dharamdev Prasad, at the school gate around 10.15am and pumped three bullets into her body. She died on the spot.
Sources said she might have been killed for opposing sexual harassment of schoolgirls by some boys. Demanding immediate arrest of the culprits and compensation to the next of the kin of the deceased, the villagers blocked Hilsa-Ekangarsarai road for more than two hours. They lifted the blockade after Hilsa SDM Radhakant, SDPO Krishna Murari and SHO Prakash Sharan promised them action and request the authorities concerned for compensation.
The SDPO said preliminary investigation indicates that some insider is involved in the crime. He said the body was sent to Biharsharif Sadar hospital for postmortem. The schoolteachers, some students and villagers were being interrogated.
