Baba Biryani Owner Arrested, Sent To 14 Days’ Judicial Custody | Kanpur News

KANPUR: Mukhtar Baba, owner of the Baba Biryani, the chain of Biryani outlets, who was detained by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for questioning on Wednesday morning after his name surfaced in connection with the June 3 violence, was arrested and sent to jail on late Wednesday evening.
The SIT had grilled Mukhtar Baba in connection with the June 3 violence for nearly five hours. Later, the police presented him before the court in the evening. Thereafter, the court sent him to jail in 14 days of judicial custody.
During interrogation, Mukhtar Baba had admitted that he was involved in June 3 violence and divulged names of some other persons who were involved and had provided funds for violence.
There were strong inputs with the police that Mukhtar Baba had allegedly funded the June 3- Parade violence.
According to the sources, it was also revealed during interrogation that the mastermind of June 3 violence -Hayat Zafar Hashmi used to collect funds from Mukhtar Baba. Also, Mukhtar helped him with food and drink arrangements and funding for those calling for stone pelting, said the sources.
At the same time, Mukhtar Baba is also accused of opening a Biryani shop by capturing Enemy property and a part of the ancient Ram Janki temple. Notices were served to him and others by the district administration and the Custodian Office of the Center in the Enemy Property case.
