Kanpur: The health department is set to launch a month-long awareness campaign beginning from May 1 to encourage secure maternity and child health services.
Chief medical officer Dr Nepal Singh said under the awareness campaign, efforts will be made to make available iron, calcium, Albendazole and folic acid tablets to each pregnant woman and midwife. The pregnant mothers would be informed how to administer these tablets, he said. During the campaign essential medicines for the nutrition of mothers would be provided free of cost, he added.
To reduce mother and child mortality rate, a campaign “Ek qadam surakshit matritva ki ore” (one step towards secured maternity) will be launched under which emphasis would be on nutrition during pregnancy and after delivery. ACMO Dr SN Singh said from May to May 24 special focus would be on pregnant women and from May 25 to May 31, mop up week would be observed to provide essential services. All pregnant women would be registered through Anmol app by ANMs and community health officers would prepare “Abha” ID and ensure that treatment is provided through Sanjevani, if required, Dr Singh said. All these services would be provided through OPD and IDP at all community health centers through village health sanitation and nutrition day and Chief Minister’s Jan Arogya Mela.
