Kanpur: Green Park stadium is set to host International Yoga Day on Tuesday. The function will begin at 6 am. The disciples of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar will conduct the ‘yogasnas’ programme. According to Mudrika Pathak director, sports directorate and in-charge of Green Park stadium, UP Assembly speaker Satish Mahana will be the chief guest of the one-hour long function. Besides him almost, the city MLAs are likely to be present on the occasion.
Divisional commissioner Raj Shekhar, district magistrate Vishak G Iyer and other district administration officials will also attend the programme. The theme of this year’s Yoga Day is “Yoga for Humanity”. The day, which is celebrated every year on June 21, is observed to focus on the importance of yoga in the lives of the people. Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) too has made elaborate arrangements for the Yoga Day. It will organize Yoga day programmes at 75 parks of the city, including the Botanical Garden.
KDA vice-chairman Arvind Singh along with other KDA officials will attend the programme at Botanical Garden. Several social organizations too have arranged yoga instructors to guide citizens who want to learn yoga ‘asanas’ Pankaj Jain, a well-known swimmer will display his yoga exercises over water.
